EGA chapters exist to foster the highest standards of excellence in the practice of the art of embroidery through an active program of education and study, and to preserve the heritage of the art of embroidery. We have a very diverse membership ranging from those who are beginning their first stitching project to people who teach nationally. We all have in common an appreciation of the art of stitchery and an insatiable desire to learn and share with our fellow stitchers.
All chapters welcome guests at monthly meetings. Meetings usually include show-and-tell and a program that may be a demonstration, mini-class or guest speaker, in addition to short business meetings. Most chapters also perform volunteer work for their community.
When you contact a chapter, remember we are an all-volunteer organization. Some members travel extensively. If you don't get a response to your request within a reasonable time, please contact us and we will help you connect with a group that suits you. All chapters are delighted to welcome new members. Just pick one that's convenient and go!
Chapters, like people, have their own personality. If there are several chapters in your area, consider visiting all of them to see if one is a better fit for you than another. Your primary interests in embroidery may fall in line with one group better than another group, although all EGA chapters cover a wide variety of techniques and interests.
