thru Sept. 30 Lace I
Love exhibit at Lacis: from dusty trunks,
drawers & rag bins, the precious often merging with the
less precious. Recycling the glory by embellishment or combination
with other elements to offer another life to the past, some
of this lace was discolored from age & the fear of washing.
Most of the pieces had an identifying tag, many of them attached
by rusty pins or wound on cardboard. Along with lengths of
vintage machine laces were snippets of exquisite whitework
embroidery & lace edgings cut from pillow covers, slips & bloomers,
long since retired. Exhibit offers inspiration as to how such
lace can be enjoyed through display, how it can be protected & preserved
for other generations, how it can be identified and why it
should be loved. While there, if before August 2, also see
