Our stitch-ins are usually held the
last Monday of the month at a member's home. Outreach
programs include Christmas ornaments and tabletop trees
for Habitat for Humanity. We make quilts for crack
babies and donate quilts to The Quilt Project and a local
rehab center. We collect hotel bath toiletries for a local
women's shelter and hold an annual
"knickers and knockers" collection to purchase
new lingerie for these women at Christmas. |

This chapter
has ongoing group correspondence courses, and offers three
to four workshops a year, often by nationally known teachers. We
strive to provide programs and activities for a
variety of interests, including lecture and hands-on programs,
a monthly sampler group, a monthly Third Thursday
group, an ongoing Teach a Child program, an annual
bus trip, and a stitched gift or ornament exchange in December. The
chapter is involved in several community outreach projects
such as stitching bookmarks for local libraries' literacy
programs, collecting grocery sacks for an organization
that provides food for the needy, and providing gift
items for children's organizations. |

stitch-ins at members homes. For outreach, we donated a
display case and maintain a seasonal needle art display
in the palliative care ward of Lions Gate Hospital. Also
hanging in the hospital are several other annual projects
including the Guild’s 10-year anniversary project
consisting of three 2’x4’
panels depicting scenes from the Vancouver area and the
North Shore in particular. |

Programs |
Our
involvement with the community includes knitting of preemie
caps for our local hospital, providing knickers and toiletries
to disadvantaged women, making blankets for disadvantaged
children and periodic involvement in special activities
of the same kind. We are especially committed to
teaching 4-H children and home schooled children beginning
needle work , as a part of Teach-a Child program. In
addition, we encourage the entire community to become
interested in needlework through our periodic exhibits
and our yearly judged show of needlework at the Sonoma
County Fair. |

Outreach activities include Plaques for Habitat for Humanity
home receipients and quilts donated to our local Habitat
for Humanity group for their annual fund raiser. We
have a table at the Stanislaus County Fair, where we offer
mini embroidery kits and instruction. |

throughout the year. These are often taught by nationally

necessity items for a woman's shelter. |
